Is it your first time? See how we protect and guide our new students here.

Your child is growing fast, and they need an environment that grows with them. Our program helps students ages 7–13 build the character and athletic skills to handle challenges both on and off the mats. We believe that serious learning doesn’t have to be boring. That’s why our curriculum is built to be technical and structured, yet deeply supportive. whether they are training in the Gi or No-Gi, your child will experience a safe, positive atmosphere that challenges them to improve while keeping the experience fun and engaging.

Why BJJ Is Perfect for Ages 7–13

We believe this is the perfect age to introduce the deeper concepts of martial arts. BJJ challenges students to think critically, developing focus and emotional regulation as they solve physical puzzles on the mats. This process naturally builds discipline and resilience, teaching them that effort leads to progress. Your child will gain immense fitness and coordination, but more importantly, they will gain the ability to stay calm in stressful situations. It is a practical self-defense system that prioritizes control, ensuring they can protect themselves without resorting to violence.

Gi and No-Gi Classes (Both Are Offered)

To provide a complete martial arts education, we offer both traditional Gi classes and No-Gi sessions for this age group. In our Gi (Uniform) classes, children learn the structure and tradition of Jiu Jitsu. They wear the kimono to master basic grips, learn how to move safely within the uniform, and follow the classic belt progression system. In our No-Gi classes, the focus shifts to athleticism and speed. Without the uniform to hold onto, kids learn a faster-paced wrestling style that emphasizes natural movement, simple takedown games, and quick reactions. Both styles are fun, safe, and age-appropriate—and together, they create a comprehensive foundation for your child’s growth.

What They’ll Learn

Our 7–13 curriculum is designed to move beyond simple movements and into real technical application. We teach a complete system that covers safe takedowns and standing control, as well as the sweeps and reversals needed to navigate a physical struggle. Students master the fundamentals of dominant positions—such as guard, mount, and back control—while also learning essential escapes from pins and holds. Submissions are introduced responsibly and safely, ensuring respect for the power of the technique. Through supervised live sparring (“rolling”), children learn to stay calm and think clearly while someone resists, teaching them to solve problems with their body and mind rather than just memorizing moves.

Anti-Bullying Confidence (Without Aggression)

One of the biggest benefits parents notice after joining our program is a shift in confidence that changes how their kids carry themselves. We teach students that true strength isn’t about aggression; it’s about the ability to stay calm in stressful situations and the courage to set boundaries. Our curriculum empowers them to handle physical conflict safely if it arises, but also instills the wisdom to walk away when possible. Ultimately, they walk out the door knowing they can protect themselves if needed. This knowledge is powerful: kids who feel capable are much less likely to be targeted by bullies, and much less likely to become bullies themselves.

A Culture Parents Trust

Our culture is built on a foundation of trust. We understand that you are entrusting us with your child’s development, which is why our coaches teach with safety as the absolute priority. We blend kindness with clear structure to ensure every student feels supported while learning real technical skills. By fostering positive accountability and enforcing a zero-tolerance rule regarding ego and bullying, we create a space where character counts as much as ability. Your child will find a place where they are constantly encouraged to grow, without ever being pushed into unsafe situations.

Whether it is Gi Jiu Jitsu or No Gi Jiu Jitsu / Submission Wrestling, the owner Tim is a black belt world champion in both disciplines as well as a former D1 wrestler. He also has a Muay Thai and Wrestling program and you will see his material on BJJ Fanatics. Classes are relaxed and technical and he has an ability as a coach to articulate complex ideas into simple concepts that anyone can grasp. Kids classes are fun and games based. Great gym!

My daughter and son are currently enrolled in Carlson Gracie Inland Valley Jiu Jitsu School. They both enjoy going and practicing with their friends. Plenty of seasoned male and female helpers on hand to guide the young students. Bring plenty of cold water to keep you hydrated. These kids seem to enjoy each other's company, and if they need help or don't fully understand the move they are practicing, just say " Professor " I need some help. and that's what they will get. 👍

I've been training at Carlson Gracie Inland Valley for a little over two years now, along with my daughter(12) and twin boys (10). It has been a tremendous benefit to all of us. Jiu-jitsu is so much more than what you see on the mats. It develops character, perseverance, fortitude, and focus. Professor Tim is a great teacher, patient, detailed, and as passionate as anyone could be about the sport. He makes Jiu-jitsu fun to learn and I'm always excited to go to class. All the guys and gals that train there are great people, super nice and fun to be around. It's a great place to be! There are tons of kids that train there too, and my kids have enjoyed every minute of it. I encourage everyone to come in and take a class and see for yourself, I started at 43 years old and you can too, Jiu-jitsu will take care of the rest!

Professor Tim and all the coaches are fantastic with both the kids and adult classes. Superior instruction, always patient and helpful. The community of other students is incredibly supportive and friendly. Could not recommend highly enough. If you're thinking about signing up, do it today, you'll only regret not doing it sooner. I started with ZERO wrestling or fight experience and training BJJ has now become a huge part of my life. Signing up was one of the best decisions I've ever made for my physical / mental health!

Great learning environment!! My son just started training here this year and immediately loved the sport. Professor Tim is very kind, cares about the kids and is very knowledgeable. All the coaches there have been nothing but amazing. The growth you get to witness in these kids even in a short period of time is undeniable. We were in between this school and another when browsing around, did a trial class at each and I’m extremely happy we chose to be here.

Our son has been training here for two years, and the growth in his confidence, strength, and skill has been incredible. Professor Tim and the coaches are amazing—supportive, disciplined, and truly care about their students. Our son loves every class and has grown so much both on and off the mat. Highly recommend!

While the benefits are numerous, Carlson Gracie Inland Valley has helped my sons build strength, endurance and gave them the confidence to overcome challenges that they didn’t think they could do. They both look forward to grappling because they like to see who is stronger than the other. My kids have stayed committed for the past three years and at times I catch them talking amongst each other about the day they will get their black belt. Although that day is far from here; it has been a great experience so far watching them better themselves. Since day one, Professor Tim along with the rest of the coaches there, have provided my sons with the guidance and motivation to continue on with this life-changing journey.

Carlson Gracie Wildomar offers world-championship instruction and a welcoming atmosphere for kids and adults. Professor Tim is an awesome coach and really pays attention to detail when teaching submissions, take downs or whatever the “move of the day” might be. The people I’ve met have quickly become my friends (even though we’re trying to break each others arms). It truly feels like a home away from home. Whether you’re training for fun or competition, this is the place to be!

I couldn't recommend Carlson Gracie enough! My son started working with coach Tim and his amazing staff 2 years ago, the growth and development he's experienced is worth far more than I can I could possibly articulate. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, clean dojo with an excellent staff then look no further than Carlson Gracie Inland Valley.

Tim is an amazing mentor and teacher! I used to roll with him at CG Temecula as a brand-newbie, which is intimidating for anyone, and being a small woman with zero exposure to martial arts, having people like Tim made the experience amazing and makes people of all walks of life feel welcome. He’s a bada$$ jiu jitsu roller and always made me feel comfortable and taught me so much. People in the jiu jitsu world respect the Carlson Gracie name. If you have the opportunity to train here definitely don’t miss out 👊🏽
