Adult Wrestling Classes in Wildomar, CA

The Most Proven Base for MMA — Taught the Safe, Technical Way.

Is it your first time? See how we protect and guide our new students here.

If you’re serious about MMA, self-defense, or just want a powerful, athletic way to get in incredible shape, wrestling is one of the best things you can train.

Under the guidance of owner and former Division-1 wrestler Tim Rennick, our adult wrestling program is built to be:

  • Highly Effective: Learn the takedowns and control that dictate the pace of a fight.

  • Technical: We focus on leverage and mechanics, not just brute force.

  • Safe: Designed for long-term progress, keeping you on the mats and injury-free.

  • Fun & Welcoming: A positive environment where new students are supported.

  • Fitness-Driven: Get an incredible workout without it becoming a miserable “grind-fest.”

Whether you’re brand new or experienced, you’ll be able to train hard—without getting hurt.

Why Wrestling Is So Effective (Especially for MMA)

Wrestling is widely considered the best base for MMA because it grants you control over the fight’s location and pace. If you can wrestle, you decide the outcome. Our program teaches you how to execute dominant takedowns, defend against attacks, and control the clinch, giving you the ability to impose your will in any scenario.

Unlike traditional wrestling rooms that prioritize grinding intensity over safety, our program is built for longevity. Under the guidance of former Division-1 wrestler Tim Rennick, we offer a technical, fitness-driven environment that is welcoming to beginners and experienced students alike. You will build athleticism and skill in a safe, ego-free room, eventually combining these tools with BJJ and Muay Thai for a complete martial arts skillset.

Coached Under Tim Rennick’s Leadership

Our wrestling program is coached by Tim Rennick’s instructor team, under his direct leadership and shared values.

Tim isn’t just a BJJ Black Belt World Champion — he was also a Division 1 wrestler, meaning he understands wrestling at the highest competitive level and how to adapt it for real MMA and real people.

But what Tim is most respected for is how he trains:

  • relaxed, technical coaching
  • high standards without ego
  • safety-first intensity
  • a culture of looking after teammates

Tim proved you can reach the top without crushing your training partners.
He became a world champion while being known for calm, considerate, intelligent training — and that philosophy shapes every class we run.

So while a trusted coach leads the day-to-day sessions, you’re getting a program held to Tim’s world-class standard.

What Adult Wrestling Class Is Like Here

Wrestling often carries a reputation for being brutal, but at Carlson Gracie Inland Valley, our approach is fundamentally different. We believe that you don’t need to accumulate injuries to get good. Instead, we teach wrestling in a way that is highly technical, pressure-tested, and structured specifically for learning, ensuring that the environment remains controlled for your safety at all times.

When you step into class, you can expect a session designed for longevity. We begin with warm-ups that build real athletic movement before moving into drilling takedowns and defenses step-by-step. As you get comfortable, we introduce positional sparring with clear goals and controlled live rounds, all under coaching that keeps you progressing safely. You will undeniably work hard, but you’ll leave the gym feeling better, not broken.

Who This Class Is For

This program is built to serve a wide range of students, from MMA-minded athletes building a serious competitive base to everyday people looking for a fun, tough skill to master. It is the perfect environment for BJJ students who want to stop pulling guard and start securing takedowns, as well as strikers who need to understand clinch control to round out their game.

However, you don’t need to be a competitor to join. We welcome complete beginners, parents, and working professionals who simply want a challenging workout that builds real confidence. We have stripped away the intimidation factor—there are no tryouts and no egos, just a supportive culture focused on good training with good people.

What You’ll Learn

We have stripped away the “fluff” to focus on the techniques that actually matter in a fight. You will build a foundation on proper stance and motion, learning how to launch effective attacks like level changes, single legs, and double legs. For close-quarters situations, we teach body locks, trips, and clinch takedowns, alongside the wall wrestling techniques essential for modern MMA.

Defensively, you will learn to stay safe and heavy with sprawls, takedown defense, and front headlocks. We also cover the “in-between” moments, teaching you scramble fundamentals, top control, and escapes so you are comfortable in every position. Our goal is to give you a skillset that works in high-pressure situations, but is trained safely enough that you can practice it every week without burning out.

Fitness That Actually Means Something

At Carlson Gracie Inland Valley, you will get in incredible shape, but not through random burnout workouts that have no purpose. Wrestling fitness is unique because it translates directly to performance; it builds explosive power, iron grip strength, and the specific type of cardio required to function under pressure. Beyond the physical changes, you will develop heightened coordination, body control, and a mental toughness you can trust in any situation. And because we prioritize training smart, you get to keep those benefits without the constant nagging injuries that make people quit other programs.

A Team Environment You’ll Want to Come Back To

At Carlson Gracie Inland Valley, we are more than just a place to sweat; we are a family. When you step onto the mats, you will be training with teammates who genuinely want to help you improve and coaches who actually care about your personal progress. We have cultivated a room that is welcoming from day one, fostering a culture that prioritizes technical skill over blind aggression. It is a unique environment where you will be challenged to push your limits and supported by your team at the same time.

Whether it is Gi Jiu Jitsu or No Gi Jiu Jitsu / Submission Wrestling, the owner Tim is a black belt world champion in both disciplines as well as a former D1 wrestler. He also has a Muay Thai and Wrestling program and you will see his material on BJJ Fanatics. Classes are relaxed and technical and he has an ability as a coach to articulate complex ideas into simple concepts that anyone can grasp. Kids classes are fun and games based. Great gym!

My daughter and son are currently enrolled in Carlson Gracie Inland Valley Jiu Jitsu School. They both enjoy going and practicing with their friends. Plenty of seasoned male and female helpers on hand to guide the young students. Bring plenty of cold water to keep you hydrated. These kids seem to enjoy each other's company, and if they need help or don't fully understand the move they are practicing, just say " Professor " I need some help. and that's what they will get. 👍

I've been training at Carlson Gracie Inland Valley for a little over two years now, along with my daughter(12) and twin boys (10). It has been a tremendous benefit to all of us. Jiu-jitsu is so much more than what you see on the mats. It develops character, perseverance, fortitude, and focus. Professor Tim is a great teacher, patient, detailed, and as passionate as anyone could be about the sport. He makes Jiu-jitsu fun to learn and I'm always excited to go to class. All the guys and gals that train there are great people, super nice and fun to be around. It's a great place to be! There are tons of kids that train there too, and my kids have enjoyed every minute of it. I encourage everyone to come in and take a class and see for yourself, I started at 43 years old and you can too, Jiu-jitsu will take care of the rest!

Professor Tim and all the coaches are fantastic with both the kids and adult classes. Superior instruction, always patient and helpful. The community of other students is incredibly supportive and friendly. Could not recommend highly enough. If you're thinking about signing up, do it today, you'll only regret not doing it sooner. I started with ZERO wrestling or fight experience and training BJJ has now become a huge part of my life. Signing up was one of the best decisions I've ever made for my physical / mental health!

Great learning environment!! My son just started training here this year and immediately loved the sport. Professor Tim is very kind, cares about the kids and is very knowledgeable. All the coaches there have been nothing but amazing. The growth you get to witness in these kids even in a short period of time is undeniable. We were in between this school and another when browsing around, did a trial class at each and I’m extremely happy we chose to be here.

Our son has been training here for two years, and the growth in his confidence, strength, and skill has been incredible. Professor Tim and the coaches are amazing—supportive, disciplined, and truly care about their students. Our son loves every class and has grown so much both on and off the mat. Highly recommend!

While the benefits are numerous, Carlson Gracie Inland Valley has helped my sons build strength, endurance and gave them the confidence to overcome challenges that they didn’t think they could do. They both look forward to grappling because they like to see who is stronger than the other. My kids have stayed committed for the past three years and at times I catch them talking amongst each other about the day they will get their black belt. Although that day is far from here; it has been a great experience so far watching them better themselves. Since day one, Professor Tim along with the rest of the coaches there, have provided my sons with the guidance and motivation to continue on with this life-changing journey.

Carlson Gracie Wildomar offers world-championship instruction and a welcoming atmosphere for kids and adults. Professor Tim is an awesome coach and really pays attention to detail when teaching submissions, take downs or whatever the “move of the day” might be. The people I’ve met have quickly become my friends (even though we’re trying to break each others arms). It truly feels like a home away from home. Whether you’re training for fun or competition, this is the place to be!

I couldn't recommend Carlson Gracie enough! My son started working with coach Tim and his amazing staff 2 years ago, the growth and development he's experienced is worth far more than I can I could possibly articulate. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, clean dojo with an excellent staff then look no further than Carlson Gracie Inland Valley.

Tim is an amazing mentor and teacher! I used to roll with him at CG Temecula as a brand-newbie, which is intimidating for anyone, and being a small woman with zero exposure to martial arts, having people like Tim made the experience amazing and makes people of all walks of life feel welcome. He’s a bada$$ jiu jitsu roller and always made me feel comfortable and taught me so much. People in the jiu jitsu world respect the Carlson Gracie name. If you have the opportunity to train here definitely don’t miss out 👊🏽
